About Dishwasher Spotlight
Dishwasher Spotlight publishes dishwasher reviews written from the manufacturer’s own published specifications and documentation. We do not physically test dishwashers, and every review says so.
What this site is
A dishwasher listing gives you a place-setting count, a decibel rating, a list of cycles, a drying method and an energy figure, and leaves you to work out whether any of it matters for your kitchen. The reviews here take one model at a time and read those numbers for what they imply: whether 44 dB is quiet enough to run during dinner in an open-plan room, whether a six-place countertop machine covers a household of two, whether a tank-fed model means carrying jugs of water or simply no plumbing.
The site covers built-in, countertop and portable dishwashers. Each review sits in one of those categories, and the categories are what the navigation is built around.
What we do not do
We do not load dishwashers with soiled plates, measure their noise, time their cycles or check whether the glasses come out dry. No dishwasher described here has run a cycle for us. A review on this site is a reading of what the manufacturer publishes, written for someone deciding whether that model fits their kitchen and their household, and we would rather say that plainly than imply hands-on experience we do not have.
We do not publish star ratings, review counts, or exact prices. Where a manufacturer has not published a specification, a review says so instead of guessing.
Who writes this
Ryan Mitchell, Editor, is the byline on every review. Ryan is an editorial name rather than a person you could look up, and we would rather say so than let a fabricated biography do work it has not earned. There are no trade credentials behind it, and there should not be: a site that states on every page that it does not test dishwashers has no business presenting an expert as its author.
What stands behind a review is the method, which is written down, and the manufacturer’s published figures, which you can check.
What changed in 2026
For its first year this site reviewed whatever appeared under a dishwasher search, which meant detergent pods, descaling tablets, mounting brackets and faucet adapters were reviewed alongside dishwashers. In September 2026 we went through all 151 pages and removed 36 from search — detergent pods and tablets, descalers, mounting brackets and installation kits, faucet adapters, a dish rack, a produce washer and a butter dish. The 115 pages that remain are dishwashers. The removed pages still exist for anyone who arrives at them, but they are no longer what this site is about and we no longer ask search engines to index them.
Browse by type
- Built-in dishwashers — A built-in dishwasher slides into a cabinet opening under the worktop and is plumbed in permanently.
- Countertop dishwashers — A countertop dishwasher sits on the worktop and needs no cabinet opening.

Corrections
If a specification in a review is wrong — the manufacturer restated it, the listing changed, or we misread it — it is worth more to us to know than to look right. The contact page says what makes a correction actionable.
